  1. Hi Kim,

    In the later versions, try;

    1. Launch the Messenger app
    2. Click on the gear icon on the upper right hand corner
    3. Click on the “Chat heads” panel on the bottom of the screen
    4. Finally tap on the “ON” switch to change it to “OFF

    Give that a try; if not, reply back with your phone model, android version, and Messenger version!

  2. its not happening in my messenger…i want to switch off my messenger chats head…my phone model is samsung galaxy grand quattro gt i8552…

  3. the trick is to go the settings on the messenger to disable chat heads feature. Not sure if your particular model phone has any special features, but with the latest Facebook Messenger app… Launch Messenger app, Click on the gear icon on the upper right hand cornder, then click on, “Chat heads“. You should now be able to turn Chat heads off. Good luck!

  4. Not sure if it’s just not accessible or something because I use talkback, but I can’t find it. I’m using the latest messenger app on a 2013 nexus7 2013 running 4.4.2.

  5. Hey Kieran,

    Not sure what talkback is – but if you want to disable Facebook chat heads feature, I found that you need have to Facebook Messenger installed. I know they’ve changed the layouts a few times since I wrote this post, but you’ll need to get to Setup within Facebook Messenger app and there is usually an option to uncheck chat heads.

    Hope this helps!
